Active Flag Award Ceremony.
At the begining of June, we recieved the great news that Avoca N.S. had been awarded it’s Active Flag in recognition of all of the great work that we had been doing in relation to increasing our level of activity. This was also accompanied by an increase in the variety of acttvities used in keeping fit. Many thanks to Ms. Rachael Byrne who led and co-ordinated this initiative on behalf of the school. Many thanks also to Ms Amy Roche for assitance to Ms Byrne. A great flag raisng ceremony was held on Thursday, June 24th. We were delighted to welcome our guest speakers: Mikey Fahy and Georgina Canavan who are past pupils of the school. They spoke about the important role in which sport had in their lives. Ms Byrne spoke about the work involved. The flag was then raised by Aimee Fox from 6th class and Rowan Kinsella from Junior Infants.
