🌳 From little acorns grow mighty Oaks 🌳

This week the children in 4th/5th Class learned about trees particularly the life cycle of an Oak tree.

They conducted a simple experiment to see which acorns were viable by placing the acorns in water. The acorns that sink are good and the ones that float are bad.

Then they decorated pots with colourful designs and planted over 60 acorns in total. We planted a few 'dud' acorns in separate containers too as an extra experiment to see if these will grow.

Over the course of the academic year, we will observe their progress and eventually the children will bring their pots home. These acorns may grow into mighty Sessile Oaks one day. These trees reach maturity at around 45 years and have been known to live from 500-1000 years old. So responsible planting boys and girls🌱
